Are trains easy to use?

Yes but the nearest station is Fuengirola, from there you can travel to Malaga and from Malaga to anywhere. Prices are cheap and quality is good, always travel first class, the price difference is minimal and meals are included.

Return to questions

Can I hire a taxi easily?

Yes there are always taxis outside the airport and the trip to La Maestranza will cost about €70 ~ €80.

Taxis are not so expensive here but sometimes hard to arrange as the controllers don't always speak English. Numbers are posted on the notice board or the security guard can help.

What about health care?

If you are wise you will have taken out your own travel insurance, if you decide against this then make sure you have your E111 card.

There is a private health centre just outside Maestranza with English speaking doctors and dentists. The Spanish emergency services are second to none if you are unfortunate enough to need them.

If you are staying a while or returning regularly consider joining "Helicopteros Sanitarios" this is an excellent service with English speaking doctors we can arrange membership or you can do directly by calling 952811818.

In any emergency the Costa del Sol hospital has an excellent reputation and you will not be refused treatment.

Are there any restaurants nearby?

Within five minutes walk are:

Mings Oriental.  A first class Thai and Chinese restaurant. Part of a well respected U.K. group preparing and cooking food for the U.K. pallet. Tom and Linda will ensure your evening is special and, as The Bistro, the views from the terrace are spectacular. You have to visit at least once during your stay.

Bistro the Gallery. Probably the best value for money in Andalucia. In summer the view from the terrace over Las Brisas is spectacular. This combined with the friendly staff and excellent food should not be missed.

The Pepper Room. Next door to Bistro serving a good choice of international cuisine at reasonable prices.

El Girasol. Next door to The Pepper Room Established many years and always popular.

El Ganesh. Two minutes from Maestranza serving superb Indian food and an excellent range of wine.

Pasta Café. Three minutes from Maestranza and ideal for lovers of pasta and pizza.

Or walk to the port in 15 minutes where you can find every style and type of food.
